Frequently asked questions
The short answers. The how to play page has the long ones.
Is Perfect Match free?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install and no account. Content pages around the game carry ads; the game board itself never does.
What is the daily run?
Every day at midnight UTC the home page gets a new run of 10 shapes that is the same for everyone. Finish it and your score goes on that day's leaderboard. Playing on consecutive days builds a streak.
How is the match percentage calculated?
It is the exact overlap of the shape and its outline divided by the area either of them covers, computed on every frame. It is floored, not rounded, so 100% only shows when the fit is really there.
Why does the shape slow down near the end?
Once the match passes about 98%, every control eases down to a quarter of its speed so you can make sub-pixel moves with a finger. The rulers show FINE while this is on, and a lens magnifies the gap.
What does banking mean?
Banking locks in a shape at whatever match it has reached, for the points on the meter: 22 at 90%, 44 at 99%, 67 at 99.9% and 89 at 99.99%. Only a perfect fit banks 100, and it refunds 3 seconds.
How much time do I get?
3 minutes for all 10 shapes, plus 3 seconds back for every perfect fit. The clock starts on your first touch and pauses between shapes and while the tab is hidden.
Why does my pinch only rotate, or only resize?
By design. A pinch commits to one job, whichever you do first: twist to rotate, spread to resize, slide to move. That stops a twist from also shrinking the shape. Lift a finger and pinch again to do something else.
How do I challenge a friend?
Finish a run and press Challenge a friend. The link opens the same shapes with your score as the target, and the game shows who is ahead after every shape. Share pic makes a picture of your result for stories and chats.
Why am I called something like Neon Dingo?
Players are anonymous. Your browser gets a random id and a generated name so leaderboards and challenges work without an account. Clearing site data gives you a new one.
Does it work offline?
The game needs a connection to load and to post results. Once loaded, a run plays fine through a brief dropout and submits when the result screen appears.
